Bosdale Farms was established by Bastiaan and Sijma Bos in 1958. Presently, the farm is managed by their four sons and their respective families, in addition to one full-time employee. In 1972, the farm began breeding operations under the prefix Bosdale. As a family-owned enterprise, the farm operates a 195-cow dairy facility, an 800-sow pig facility with 50% finishing capacity, and till 1700 acres of land (1600 owned) for the production of forages, grains, and bedding to cater to the needs of their livestock.
Our dairy farm operates a dual tie stall and free stall facility. The tie-stall facility, built in 2005, consists of 65 tie stalls,16 pack pens for transition and extra care cows as well as a one group dry cow pack. The barn is naturally ventilated with temperature controlled window panels and overhead fans pulling air from chimneys in a center skylight. The cows are fed bailage and dry hay throughout the day along with a TMR twice a day at milking times. The free stall facility encompasses 172 free stalls with access to a 3 V310 robots, as well as 14 free stalls and and a bedded pack for transition and extra care cows.

Exhibiting our cows at local and national shows and fairs has proven to be a highly effective marketing strategy for our business. Over the years, we have garnered numerous accolades, including Premier Exhibitor, Breeder, and Breeders herd banners at the Perth-Waterloo and Autumn Opportunity Holstein Shows. Our proudest moment was placing 2nd Breeder's Herd at the RAWF and receiving Reserve All-Canadian Breeder's Herd for 2016, as well as breeding the HM Grand champion at the Royal, Bosdale Gold Luster. Our breeding program is centered around producing elite type, strong production, and long-lasting cows. We are honored to have received three Master Breeder shields from Holstein Canada in 1993, 2001, and 2015. Our cow families, including Portrait, Luster, Barbie, Jasmine, Atlee, Shane, and Tootsie, are a testament to our commitment to excellence.
We got our start in the pork industry in the late 1970s with a 70 sow farrow to finish operation in a renovated dairy barn. In 1994 construction was started on a new facility to house 350 sows. At this time, we began producing breeding stock as a multiplier for PIC Canada. Our relationship with this industry-leading genetic supplier continues to be an asset to our operation. https://www.pic.com/
In 2017 we expanded our farm to 800 sows. Our current facility is designed for efficient production and with a focus on maintaining a healthy comfortable environment for our animals.
We are proud to be members of Conestoga Meat Packers, a farmer-owned cooperative packing plant. https://www.conestogameats.com/
Without the grace of God we wouldn't be where we are today. We thank Him for daily health and strength, the opportunity to work on the farm with our family and for countless other blessings He has given us. We praise God for providing salvation through Jesus Christ and giving purpose to our lives.
"And whatever you do, in word or deed,
do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him."
